About the Program

St. Luke's-Roosevelt has a comprehensive curriculum with equal emphasis on formal teaching, informal teaching, and practical experience, with exposure to subspecialty training and research.

Dr. Nolan Kagetsu is the program director (since 2002). Dr. Munir Ghesani is the associate program director (since 2004). The four year program begins at the PGY II level (requiring a prior year of ACGME approved clinical training. Residents spend approximately half of their rotations at the Roosevelt site and half at the St. Luke's site.

Our program is "resident oriented". This should appeal to those who learn best by doing. On the rotations where there are fellows (nuclear medicine, vascular interventional, and the Roosevelt neuroradiology rotation) we ensure that the presence of the fellow enhances the educational experience of the resident. We also coordinate the presence of residents from other instituions on the PET/CT, Roosevelt neuroradiology, womens' imaging as well as the neurointerventional elective, to preserve and enhance the experience of  our residents.

Incoming residents should be thinking ahead to their experience in the fourth year. Because of our collaboration with the Beth Israel Radiology Residency, we will be able to offer electives in PET/CT, musculoskeletal radiology, women's imaging, neuroradiology, cardiac imaging, and vascular interventional. For those interested in private practice, we have an elective where the resident can get first hand experience in a busy private office setting.
